Beauty Shopping in Hong Kong

shopping hong kong

The Good:

  • Many beauty products offered at discounted prices in Bonjour, Colourmix and Sasa
  • Brands from all over the world
  • Sample sizes are available for purchase (lancome, shiseido, bioderma, dior, estee lauder, SK II, shu uemura, etc)
  • Wide selection of face masks
  • Promotional gift packages offered in most stores at a great price
  • Products have testers

The Bad- Poor color selection range for foundations/BB Cream/Concealers, bronzers (or any product that makes the skin darker/tanner) are hard to find, no return policy, US brands are usually more expensive in HK (sometimes double the price), and limited edition products are hard to come by.

BONJOUR– Where you will find the cheapest beauty products in Hong Kong. Find La mer, bobbi brown, dior, chanel, skin food, etc at discount prices. If you’re in causeway bay, or mongkok you’ll probably see 3 or more bonjours on the same block. Stop by all of them because you’ll find different products in each store.

Colourmix– More expensive than bonjour but definitely less expensive than Sasa. Has mostly Korean brands like lioele, The Face Shop, Hope Girl, Laneige, etc. High-end brand name products are behind a glass case. I’ve seen discounted bobbi brown, dior, lancome, chanel, and guerlain at colourmix.

Sasa– Most popular amongst the beauty shops. Carries a wide range of beauty brands at discounted prices. Carries the Balm products in some stores, Majolica Majorca, Bourjois, Canmake, Revlon, Maybelline, Loreal, Pupa, etc.

Log on– Prices are slightly higher compared to the other shops but a great one stop shop for all things cute and quirky. A great store to pick up souvenirs. Carries mostly Japanese beauty products like canmake, kanebo, dollywink, etc. NYX cosmetics available in log-on at festival walk. Pick up Mangosteen peeling gel at Log-on.

AnthonG- (causeway bay and TST) for discounted skinceuticals, Avene, bioderma, everyday minerals, and mario badescu products. Smashbox is available at the TST location, but selection is sad. Clarisonic is sold here and replacement heads are the cheapest that I’ve seen in HK.

Where to find:

Cure-Natural Aqua Peeling Gel- Select Watsons (I’ve only seen it in stock at Watsons East Point City-Hang Hau)

Collection 2000- Select Watsons (The Edge-TKO)

Bumble and Bumble- Joyce Beauty

Holika Holika- Hysan Place Causeway Bay

Bright Up Nano Eye Mask- Select Mannings (The Edge-TKO)

Boots will be available at Mannings-President Theatre in Causeway Bay starting Oct 22,2012

Sleek Cosmetics-A little research has revealed that this brand is available in HK but I have not checked out the store. Here is the address:

I have yet to find elf, urban decay, coastal scents, N.Y.C., Hard Candy, Jordana, Essence, Cover Girl, Real Techniques and Milani in Hong Kong. Hopefully they’ll find their way here soon! For now, I’ll have to rely on the internet or friends for these brands. Let me know if you’ve seen these products around town.

  1. can you specify in which sasa’s i can find the balm? i’m heading there this weekend.
    Much appreciated xx

    1. I purchased it a while ago at the Sasa in Sheung Tak Centre Mall at Sheung Wan station. Perhaps you can give them a call to find out if they still stock the balm products. They change beauty brands all the time.
